Malynda Hart and family are the proud owners of two historic baby books she purchased in a Portland antique shop recently. The books belonged to the family of Sherwood town founder J. C. Smock's son Ira. Sherwood Historical Society President June Reynolds is explaining what she found out about the people mentioned in the two books. Photo was taken at Morback House Museum.

If I have any time today, I'm going to look into the archives to see if I can find any more Ira Smock photos. Some appeared around 9 months ago in an envelope from Portland.--JR

The only thing I know about Ira is that he cut his hand with a saw at least twice. He lost an entire team of horses into a water-well one time. Judging from newspaper accounts, he was a stumble-bum.
