100 Years Ago Today: George Williams Shot Dead!

The incident happened on Railroad Street on April 8, 1892. George Williams was shot dead by Alvie Fields. According to rumors, Williams' six shooter wasn't even loaded. His wife emptied the bullets out before he could go to town and empty them out on Mr. Fields. No one remembers what the argument was about, but the site of the gunfight is well known. It happened at the saloon on on Block 3 Lot Seven, next door to the Sherwood Heritage Center.
